About Kim and Kari and Girlfriends’ Getaways

When our parents enrolled Kim at Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theatre at age 7, it was game over - she’d been bitten, and hard, by the theatre bug. She’s spent most of her life working or volunteering in a variety of theatre settings. Since the mid-2010s, Kim has been traveling from wherever she lives at the time (rn that’s Georgia) to NYC to experience the city she loves, sometimes solo but often bringing along friends or family.

Kari, meanwhile, was blessed with the voice and musicality of an angel. With dozens, if not hundreds, of concerts and musical festivals under her belt, Kari is a bona fide expert music lover. (Good thing she lives in Tennessee, with lots of music options!) That’s in addition to all the musicals and plays!

Between the two of us, we might jointly come close to expressive dramatic music skills of our mom, Jan Moore! Growing up in South Florida, we lived a charmed life that celebrated the performing arts, a great part of that in artistic expression through the dramatic presentations at our (very large and creative) church.

Our vocations ended up taking us down non-creative paths but we have always continued to support and champion live theatre and music. And after our mom passed, we were determined to lean into life even more, to take advantage of every moment we have as women, sisters, friends.

Now more than ever, we cherish our many weekends together in New York City to cram in as many Broadway shows and NY experiences as possible — truly embracing the incredible energy of this city that never sleeps!

After years of traveling, and our friends saying “take me with you!!” (and indeed we did!), Kim and Kari partnered to create Girlfriends’ Getaways - NY. Aimed at creating trips to New York especially to celebrate the beauty of female friendship, our trips are designed for girlfriends, moms and daughters, sisters…any women ready to celebrate the sacredness of female relationships
